Raw Fig Pudding

    Lately I have been having a blast making different raw puddings and "fruitsauce" creations. I have made raw applesauce and a delicious raw cranberry sauce that will be perfect for Thanksgiving. Those recipes I will be posting very soon but today I wanted to share this amazing fruit pudding recipe I made back when fresh figs were at their peak. You could substitute dried figs as long as you soak them until plump and soft.     Raw Fig Pudding by Elizabeth @ rawlivingandlearning.blogspot.com 6-8 fresh Black Mission Figs, or dried figs that have been soaked till plump and soft 2 organic apples 2 ripe bananas pinch of cinnamon Place all of the ingredients into a food processor. Diced Pears and Sauce

Prior to my evening meal, which is usually greens and sprouts, I will have a fruit dish of some sort. I do this to make sure I get enough calories and healthy carbs, since a dinner of just greens and sprouts doesn't add up much in the calorie department. This week I purchased two bags of organic pears from Trader Joe's and 2 cartons of organic strawberries. The combo of the two sounded really good tonight. Here is the super simple sauce I made to drizzle over top of three organic pears. It is simply amazing! The first bite said, "Strawberry shortcake!!" The dates sweetened it up so nicely it tasted just like the sweet sauce my grandmother use to make for her shortcake. Hers of course was sweetened with white sugar--big no no. Now we know better and sweeten things with delicious dates. My Homegrown Pineapple

My beautiful, little, homegrown pineapple! It took a loooooong time for this little gem to grow, but it was worth the wait. The flavor was exceptional. But the best part is that it ripened on the plant and was the most brilliant shade of yellow I have ever seen on a pineapple. So juicy and delicious! Very easy to do; simply twist off the top of a store bought pineapple, place in a cup of water and patiently watch the roots begin to sprout. BAT Cereal

BAT Cereal I learned how to make this recipe from watching a video of Karen Ranzi  interviewing her daughter. Karen wrote the book, Creating Healthy Children Through Attachment Parenting and Raw Foods. She was asking her what it was like to be raised a vegan and then a raw vegan. One of her fondest childhood memories was begging her Mom each morning to make "BAT Cereal". Well, it sounded delicious to me so I decided to try it for myself. I ordered a jar of raw tahini from The Raw Food World. This tahini is stone ground making it ultra creamy and oh so delicious. I have never tasted a raw tahini so good. Not bitter in the least!!  As soon as it arrived I made a batch of BAT Cereal. 2 organic apples, diced 2 organic bananas, mashed 1 teaspoon raw tahini Mash the 2 bananas with the teaspoon of raw tahini. Place the mixture in a bowl and top with the diced apples. Enjoy! Insane!! Might be nice with a bit of cinnamon too.           +JMJ+ Today I am

A Favorite Green Juice

I've been enjoying bok choy and baby bok choy like crazy lately. It is so delicious raw. I love munching on it like a stalk of celery and I also enjoy it juiced. I personally believe that juicing has many benefits, even though the fiber is removed from the fruits and vegetables in the process, as long as you balance juicing with the consumption of green smoothies--balance is achieved. That way one can get the amazing health benefits from both. I know that in the raw food world people argue back and forth about juicing vs blending.
