Elegant Autumn Salad--No Dressing Required

 Spiritual Health

Our journey here on earth can lead us to our destiny, if we are willing to sow the seeds needed to reap the harvest. Sometimes our journey ends quickly and time runs out to do such things. Thank goodness for a second chance; for those taken before ripe.

"The soul must reach maturity in Purgatory, which is like the cellar in which fruit, harvested too soon, is left to ripen. "
                                  by Father Maurice Zundel

It is a great privilege knowing that belonging to the Church allows one to help the Holy Souls enter heaven. So it is on this day, All Soul's Day, that our family prays for our deceased loved ones and those who have no one left to pray for them. We pray the prayer taught to St. Gertrude to release a vast number of souls: "Eternal Father, I offer Thee the most Precious Blood of Thy Divine Son, Jesus, in union with all the Masses being said this day throughout the world for all the holy souls in Purgatory. Amen."

As I discussed in yesterday's post, our mental and physical health are interwoven so tightly that they cannot be separated. But they simply would not even exist if it weren't for our spiritual health--our soul. Each person has their own personal journey when it comes to living and creating a healthy spiritual life. But all three elements combined, mental, physical and spiritual work in perfect harmony when given the proper conditions. It is up to us to provide those pristine conditions and that involves each and every decision we make every moment of everyday.

One simple way to make healthy decisions can be as easy as consciously thinking about what we put in our mouths. Why not treat your body as the temple that it is and choose foods that will promote healthy bodies and minds? If our minds are clear we are then able to see what other areas of our life may need some purifying; enhancing our spiritual health.

I'd like to share a super healthy salad today that requires no dressing. It is bursting with flavor and looks beautiful too.

Elegant Autumn Salad-No Dressing Required
by Elizabeth @rawlivingandlearning.blogspot.com

Mixed baby greens, organic
Arugula, organic
1 navel orange, peeled and sliced into rounds
Organic radishes, sliced into rounds
Organic sweet onion, sliced thin
1 pomegranate, remove the seeds from the inside

Here is a great video showing how to remove the seeds from a pomegranate. It also shows you how to juice one. See video here. The reason this salad requires no dressing is that once you start cutting into this salad, the fruits begin releasing their sweet juices and the flavors blend
beautifully with the onion, creating a satisfying salad just as it is. Enjoy!

+JMJ+ Today I am grateful for memories of my wonderful mother-in-law and my beautiful sister, both of which we lost this year. You are in our prayers and missed so much. I think of you everyday;
Eternal rest grant unto them, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon them. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.

I think about them too all the time. I even have dreams about Deb. She must be trying to tell me she's ok now. This will be a difficult holiday season for all. But hopefully with us there we can comfort each other. Oh yeah baby we will see you in a few weeks!!!!!! C
